These fashionable bespoke looking cement encaustic tiles are very popular and present in many high end properties throughout London and Hertfordshire. However people are starting to realise now that they are a nightmare to keep looking good, especially in bathrooms and kitchens!
Why do cement encaustic tiles get so dirty?
Unfortunately although the colours are amazing they are made from very sensitive pigments that can easily be damaged from most household detergents and even things like shampoos will damage them causing unsightly drip marks and stains. The actual cement itself that makes the tiles up is also very fragile and is structurally very similar to limescale. So everything that removes limescale will damage these tiles.
So how do we keep cement encaustic tiles clean?
The only way to keep cement encaustic tiles clean is to have them sealed thoroughly before they get dirty and then keep them clean by not disturbing the sealer. We preserve tile sealers by using PH neutral detergents and then topping up the tile sealer periodically. However if your tiles are already in a state you will need to get them restored so that they can be sealed professionally. Marble and concrete worktop polishing service
We are able to completely clean and renew marble, limestone and concrete work tops and kitchen work surfaces.
In kitchens marble limestone and concrete worktops can get very etched and stained in sensitive areas such as around cookers and sinks. We therefore deep steam clean and completely hone and resurface these materials to remove scratches and blemishes.
After we have reset the worktops and removed marks we then bring them to a high shine as required.
Professional sealing of porous tiles and stone
The most important thing to get right with marble limestone and concrete or cement surfaces is to seal them properly.
This is an invisible part of the job as sealers dont change the color of the material unless we specify a color enhancing sealer. Being in the tile cleaning and restoration trade I see so many marble , limestone and concrete cement tiles and surfaces that have just not been sealed properly after installation.
It seems many tilers will just slap a quick coat of seal onto new tiles but the reality is these materials require much more. Sealing tiles and stone requires multiple coats of quality sealer and professional machine buffing between each coat to spread the seal evenly.
