Stone cleaning and polishing service

The nice thing about natural stone is that even if it looks all dirty and scratched we can likely make it look nearly new again! We are able to completely revive most stone through a process of chemical cleaning, resurfacing and polishing up the stone. In the pic below we did half the floor to completion before moving the furniture to do the other half. Just see the difference in the stone!

We are able to deep clean stone and also cut stone down in order to remove any marks and surface blemishes. We then bring it back up to the desired finish and can achieve a high shine on calcareous stones. We will professionally seal and buff your stone as well to keep it protected from dirt for longer.

We also clean patios and exterior stone and can remove moss, algae lichens and repair pointing and deep seal as well.

How is marble and limestone polished

It all depends on the look the client wants. We will often do test to show the natural shine the stone can achieve and then its up to the client if they want it mat , shiny or somewhere in the middle.

Then after the initial steam and grout clean we will begin the stone polishing process whereby we will begin by aggressively removing layers from the stone to remove scratches and condition the surface. After this we begin honing the stone by taking off finer and finer layers until it shines. It seams simple enough but it does take experience to bring up a good consistent shine and dealing with lips on uneven tiles is very tricky!

Here are some large format white marble tiles we have refurbished and polished in Harpenden (Hertfordshire). they where pretty spectacular tiles and held nice shine when done. The marble was sealed and finished for protection.
Here we have some nice Limestone tiles on a job that we have completed in Harpenden. Limestone is sensitive to acids so we are very careful to clean with mild alkaline cleaners before polishing or honing commences. Limestone usually shines up well and is easy to make look better than new. Limestone is not really ideal for exterior applications

Kitchen marble and limestone worktop polishing

I also polish up and refurbish kitchen worktops and stone surfaces in bathrooms. Its usually a case of steam cleaning and chemical stripping grease and grime. Then I will hone out all etches, drip marks and scratches usually around the sink and cooker.

After this we can polish to a high shine and crystallize if required. The final stage is always sealing it very well. I aim to achieve full saturation in stone that I seal so that it is as protected as can be!
